In Yunnan province, Mengku, north of the famous foggy mountain of Bangma, perches at 1800 meters above sea level the Bingdao Laozhai village. Considered as the “Queen of Chinese teas”, the grand cru from this village concentrates the purest expression of extremely rare Pu’Er teas. In this rich and mineral ecosystem, with very contrasting seasons and thermal amplitude, stand dense forests of wild thousand-year-old tea trees, dotted with fruit trees and crossed by living springs. Anya’s farmers gently harvest the youngest buds from 300-600 year old ancient trees by climbing delicate bamboo scaffolding. The tea is presented rolled into balls wrapped in tissue paper to preserve all its soul.
A sustained fragrance of iodine, like a mist of sea spray, composes the first nose.
Then, this grand cru raw Pu’er tea opens with a complex bouquet of honey, undergrowth and porcini mushrooms that unfolds in a generous and creamy mouth.
