BRUME DE MENGKU
raw Pu’er tea – ancient tea tree bingdao grand cru
SINGLE ORIGIN – PURE TEA – GRAND CRU RARE TEA
In the Yunnan province, in Mengku, north of the famous misty Bangma Mountain, lies the village of Bingdao Laozhai at an altitude of 1800 meters. Known as the “Queen of Chinese Teas,” the grand cru from this village embodies the purest expression of the rare Pu’er teas. In this rich and mineral ecosystem, with its stark seasonal contrasts and significant temperature variations, dense forests of ancient wild tea trees thrive, interspersed with fruit trees and flowing springs. Our farmers carefully pluck the budding leaves from 600 year-old ancient tea trees using delicate bamboo scaffolding. The tea is rolled into balls to preserve its essence.
TASTING NOTES
Upon first smell, a strong fragrance of iodine, reminiscent of sea spray, greets the nose. This grand cru Pu’er tea then opens up to a complex bouquet of honey, undergrowth, and porcini mushrooms, unfolding slowly in a generous and creamy mouthfeel that lingers beautifully.
